Parish Clerk Vacancy for Allerston and Wilton Parish Council

Allerston and Wilton Parish Council – Ryedale District

Vacancy for Clerk

Allerston and Wilton Parish Council is seeking a new Clerk. We are looking for someone who displays enthusiasm, general common sense, kindness, and good humour. Being organised and helpful is key, but some computer skills are also highly useful, and you will get the full support of colleagues on the council.

The post is part time, roughly 20 hours per month. The hours of work are flexible except for attendance at meetings, which ordinarily are a formal meeting once every two months.

Salary is in accordance with National Joint Council recommendations; pay scale LC1, above the substantive range due to additional duties so points 13 to 17, dependent upon qualifications and experience. But this is not a job, it’s a lifestyle and chance to get involved in your community.

Duties will include acting as support to the council, preparation of the agendas, minute taking, compilation of correspondence, filing and accounts. In addition, the Clerk is responsible for the management and administration of several functions that are exercised by the Council such as grass cutting, the Community Water supply and other projects as they develop.

Must be able to use Excel and Word and a laptop is supplied.

If you are organised and like getting involved this is for you. Prior relevant experience is an advantage but training in all aspects of local government administration, along with full support will be provided.
